Amazing work, Jon!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dave.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jon. Ken Boyer's granddaughter here :) Would my family be able to purchase prints from you? Specifically, the one with Ken on it. These are absolutely incredible! Love the color one of Stan, too :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Brook.
ReplyDeletePlease check your email.
Hi Jon,
ReplyDeleteCan I ask you about permission to use one of the images (of Sandy Koufax) for a free, family event hosted by a non-profit? Let me know how to contact you to explain and ask, please.
Thank you!
Sarah
Sarah,
ReplyDeletePlease post your email address here and I will contact you.
Thanks,
Jon
Hi Jon! I've enjoyed browsing your drawings. . .Very impressive. I wonder if you might answer a question for me. I have created a few drawings of famous people, including athletes (Stan Musial and the Dean brothers of St. Louis). I have had a number of people inquire about buying prints of my work. Since you have experience with this kind of thing could you give me some advice about obtaining permission to sell prints of such drawings? Have you had to contact the estates of the people you've drawn for permission to sell prints? Any advice you could give me would be most appreciated! Some of my drawings can be viewed at www.thephotoartloft.com. The best email for me is thephotoartloft@yahoo.com. Thanks very much. . .Oh, and by the way. . .GO Cardinals!
ReplyDeleteHi, and apologies for the very late response. If you're going to sell prints of deceased baseball players, I believe it would be advisable to obtain permission not only from the subjects' estates/families, but also MLB. I created the bulk of the artwork depicted on this page several years ago as part of a campaign--which was not purchased--for a now-defunct advertising agency, while a few of the images were made as samples only. I recall the agency mailing letters to all of the players who were under consideration for the campaign, requesting permission to use their likenesses (with varying degrees of success). Best of luck.
